Proverbs 18:11:
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own
conceit.
?-----------------------------?
The most secure are commonly
the least safe; and those most shamefully betray their own weakness that most
confidently presume upon their own strength (1Cor 10:12).
–Matthew Henry

The Hope of a believer is not
some long drawn-out theological statement. The hope of a believer can be summed
up in two words, Jesus Christ. 1 Timothy 1:1, “Paul, an apostle of Jesus
Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is
our hope.” Any more than this is
hopeless.
–John Chapman

“A cup of cold water” (Matthew 10:42). Our Lord takes notice of and honors
a cup of cold water offered to a disciple just as fully as he does the greatest
expositions of a prophet if both are done for the same reason. It does not
matter what we do for Christ, but only why we do it. All deeds are the same
which are done for the same reason and with the same devotion.
–Don Fortner
?-----------------------------?
To believe God is no small
thing! It is the evidence of a heart reconciled unto God; it is the proof of our
being weaned from our own works and deeds; it is a clear sign of the true
conviction of sin; it is honoring to Christ, our only Redeemer; it is the
essence of true worship; and it is the root of sincere obedience.

THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH – JOHN 10:28
The
Lord Jesus Christ in talking about His sheep says: “I give unto them eternal
life and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my
hand.” However, He did not say . . .
. . . They shall not sin, only not
unto death. He did not say, They shall not fall, only not fall
away completely. He did not say, They shall not wander, only not
forever, and not too far that He can’t find them. He did not say, They
shall not feel guilty, only they shall not be condemned.
He did not say They shall never
be persecuted; only they shall not be forsaken. He did not say
They shall never be cast down, only they shall not be destroyed.
He did not say They shall never be accused; only they shall not
be charged. He did not say They shall never be tried; only
they shall never be sentenced.
He did not say the sheep shall
never be mauled by a bear, a lion, or a man, and found wounded, bruised,
bleeding and hurt . . . . only They shall never PERISH!!! WHY?
Because
the Lord is their Shepherd.
Because
they are His sheep and He goes and finds them.
Because
He gave His life for them and gives life to them (and never takes back what He
gives).
Because
He calls them and they will come (and keep coming, though they wander).
Because
they are in His hand and the Father’s hand.
Because
HE SAID SO!!

“Man
cannot be saved by perfect obedience, for he cannot render it; he cannot be
saved by imperfect obedience, for God will not accept it”
–C.H. Spurgeon
GOD’S GRACE IS SUFFICIENT
“And
he said unto me, my grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made
perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my
infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Cor. 12:9).
What
a glorious promise is given to every believer. God’s grace, given through our
Lord Jesus Christ is all sufficient to the saving purpose of His people (Acts
15:11). Grace is never said to be insufficient but always sufficient to
accomplish its intent, purpose and glorious end (2 Tim. 1:9); sufficient,
enough, plenty and adequate to justify (Rom. 3:24), to redeem (Eph. 1:6-7), to
supply all our every need (Phil. 4:19), to sustain us through all trials (Heb.
13:5) and to strengthen us when weak (Heb. 4:16). This mighty and sovereign
grace appears to us most glorious, sufficient and appreciated when we realize
our own weakness, inability and utter helplessness before God (Rom.7:24-25). “Most
gladly therefore,” do we rejoice in our own infirmities, and weakness that the
power of our Lord Jesus Christ may rest upon us (Rom. 1:16), or tabernacle over
us (Psa. 27:5), sheltering (Psa. 46:1), preserving (1Peter 1:5), protecting us
from all adversaries and enemies of the gospel (John 10:2-30). Thank God for
His unfailing, everlasting, saving, redeeming, electing and all sufficient
grace (Rom. 8:37; 1 Cor. 15:57; 2 Cor.9:15).

QUIET WORSHIP
“Be still and
know that I am GOD.” Psalm 46:10
The more a man begins to see of the awesome holiness
and gracious goodness of God Almighty, the more that man wants to close his
mouth and behold Christ. Many have thought outward noise is the proof of inward
peace, but often that outward noise reveals an empty heart. There is no greater
joy for a sinner, saved by the grace of God, than to be made to quietly
contemplate Christ. A redeemed sinner, knowing a little about his own nature,
realizes that his natural tendency is to make foolish noise that only brings
glory unto himself. How prone we are to draw attention to ourselves. May we be
brought down from our lofty pedestal.
