Proverbs
14:25: A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh
lies.
?-----------------------------?
God’s
people should honor those God put in authority as God commands so long as it be
“in the Lord.” Therefore, at their order
we should not assemble during threat of the coronavirus since we have other
means of assembling. But there is also a
dangerous precedent set when the state closes the church for any reason. I pray that the cases in which government has
barred churches from meeting will go to the supreme court and the court will
rule in favor of the churches. Else who
knows why the government can stop us from assembling in the future.
Still, let us remember, God sent the
coronavirus and only God can take it away.
He can give it to us if we be locked away in a room wearing every garb
of protection or keep it from us if we are in a crowd of contaminated
people. Yet, we see the unbelief of man
in that man’s answer is do not assemble to worship God. Since we have other means of assembling, we
will honor our rulers for the sake of Christ who rules them; but for the sake
of Christ we will never cease assembling to worship Christ: He alone rules; He
alone saves; He alone is to be obeyed.

“Whatsoever things were written aforetime were written
for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might
HOPE” – Romans 15:4
THE message of Scripture is a message of HOPE
to the believer; a message of salvation and deliverance from sin, death and
hell. Scripture says that Christ came to . . . “deliver them who
through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Heb.2:15). The
language of scripture is a language of HOPE for all the saints. The
disciples, worried about their friend Lazarus, who was sick unto death, were
told by the Lord, “Our friend Lazarus sleepeth.” That
eased their worries and fears. God’s Word to His people is a language of
HOPE, which dispels all fear of death and dying. “Whosoever liveth
and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” (John 11:26).
None have ever perished who have trusted in God’s mercy, who have believed
God’s Christ. NONE! All who have fallen asleep in Jesus, are
right now with Him where He is, beholding His glory, in eternal happiness and
bliss. They didn’t ‘go to the land of the dead’, as some
say, but rather, left the land of the dead to go to the living God.
Believer, HOPE THOU IN GOD! Hope in His
mercy, hope in His grace, hope in HIS SON . . . and it shall be well with thee,
thou shalt never die! You have God’s Word on it. Pastor Paul Mahan

HE REVILED
NOT AGAIN
1 Peter 2: 22: Who did no sin, neither
was guile found in his mouth: 23: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again;
when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that
judgeth righteously.
Who of us have been reviled and
reviled not again with even a hint of guile in our heart? When one of us charges another with being a
reviler, usually, the very charge itself is reviling. That is why Christ Jesus is salvation for the
believer because he is the sinless Savior of his people, “even unto the
death of the cross.”
?-----------------------------?
One of purpose for which God makes his
child suffer trails is to keep us declaring Christ’s wonderful works rather
than our own. Those most ready to bear witness that salvation is by
God’s grace apart from man are those who have suffered most. They have experienced
our total inability and God’s sufficient grace.

LOOK TO CHRIST AND DO VALIANTLY
Psalm 60: 11: Give us help from
trouble: for vain is the help of man. 12: Through God we shall do
valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
When the Spirit of God exalts Christ in
our hearts, God brings us to look to Christ our King. God brings us to fight the fight of faith
under the Banner of Jehovah-Nissi. That
is when we repent from ourselves and cry out to Christ, "Give us help
from trouble: for vain is the help of man.” We cry, “O God, thou hast cast us off, thou
hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again. Thou
hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof;
for it shaketh” (Ps 60:1-3).
Brethren, Christ alone is the great Healer, the Repairer of the Breach. There is no remedy but by returning to God in
faith as we beseech him to return to us for the sake of Christ. If we can do so
by God’s grace then God has already brought us under Christ our Banner to trust
Christ alone. When the Spirit of God
turns us from ourselves to Christ our King, "Through God we shall do
valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.”
So, believer, let’s hear God! The
teaching of this Psalm is that it is vain to trust in man. All things are Christ’s. He has conquered
all. He shall call out all his elect and
unite us in him. He shall use even the
reprobate to do it. So, believer, having
Christ, in the midst of this world today, God says to us, “Therefore let no
man glory in men. For all things are yours; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or
Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all
are yours; And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s” (1 Cor 3: 21-23).
