Ways Opposite to Our Ways
Isaiah 55: 6-9
God is not impressed with our achievements—if we had a righteousness to present to the LORD we would boast in it; if we had a will to seek after God we would poke out our chest; if we could bring about holiness by our flesh we would oppress and look down our noses on everyone who does not match our ways.
Do we have such a high thought of ourselves that we are too full of pride to come down off our throne? Is our life so important that we can not lay it down to follow the Lord of glory? Oh, don’t wait till you have finished living your life to lay it down. You never will. Lay down your life now, make yourself of no reputation and cast all your care on the Lord Jesus Christ. His thoughts are so opposite to ours that God will have mercy and abundantly pardon all who do.
