Romans 10: 4:
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Most reject this truth. The reason is given. Christ is the end of the law for
righteousness only “to every one that believeth.”
*******
WHATSOEVER
YOU DO
Colossians 3: 17-25
Do nothing for self but do all for the sake of Christ, with thankful
hearts to God and our Father by him. This
is key when bearing witness of Christ in this world. Folks are more willing to listen to the
gospel from someone whose word and deeds are seasoned with grace. It is also the key to unity in our homes and between
brethren.
Husbands and Wives
Christ is our
Husband and we his bride. (Eph 5: 22-24)
The church is in subjection to Christ our Husband, not contending for
our separate, selfish ways but walking together in love and affection, seeking
the glory of Christ. For this reason, the
believing wife is to be in subjection to her husband, obeying him, respecting
his decisions and following his leadership as long as it does not violate the word
of God. It is the reason, the believing husband
is to love his wife, respect her and defend her before his parents, before his
children, and all who would discredit or abuse her. If one’s spouse is an unbeliever, do this
that they “might be won” to Christ. (1 Pet 3: 1)
Eve was easily
beguiled by Satan so after the fall the LORD told Eve that she would be in
subjection to Adam her husband for her own salvation. It pictures the salvation
the church, the bride, has by submitting and entrusting our well-being into the
hand of Christ our Husband. You and I as
the bride of Christ are easily beguiled.
Our safety and salvation is by being in subjection to Christ our Husband. One reason there is so much dishonor in
free-will religion is their doctrines teache that the church has authority over
Christ. Their jesus can do nothing except what they permit him to do. Satan has beguiled the woman, turning the order
upside down. Their message teaches wives
to rule over their households, promoting disorder in the family like the
church. That is one of the reasons our
world is continually getting worse. (Eph 5: 25-33)
Parents
and Children
The child’s obedience to our parents is well-pleasing unto the Lord but
disobedience is not. The first son,
Adam, rebelled against his Father sinking the whole human race into spiritual
death. The Son of God obeyed the Father,
declaring God the Father just and the Justifier and redeeming all the elect of
God. He is well-pleasing unto
the Father, the Firstborn Son among
many brothers and sisters. If you want to honor God the Father then
submit to his Son in faith, as well as to your earthly father and mother. Obey your parents. Respect them and their rule. Speak honorably to them. Look for ways to help and to help keep peace
in the home.
Parents we are to raise our children,
both, in the nurture and in the admonition (correction) of the Lord. One danger we face is being too hard without nurturing. Think how our heavenly Father nurtures
us. He does not make us think we cannot
please him. His nurture leads us to
Christ in whom our Father is pleased with us. The preeminent goal of a faithful
father to his children is to nuture them to Christ—in lovingkindness have I drawn you.
It is not only what we teach, but also the spirit in which we teach.
The other danger we face is being too easy rather than admonishing. (Heb 12: 6-7)
The following scriptures are better than any parenting handbook ever
written, “Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the
rod of correction shall drive it far from him.” (Pro 22: 25) “The rod and
reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to
shame.” (Pro 29: 15) God our Father is perfectly
consistent in nurturing and correcting his child. Seek God's way, not our own.
Masters and Servants
Employees are to remember we serve the Lord Christ and employers to
remember we have a Master in heaven. Servants,
how did Christ serve God when he took the form of a servant? It was certainly “not
with eye service, as men pleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God”. So he says, “whatsoever ye do, do it
heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men”.
Work for your employer as if it were your own business. Treat their property with respect. Do not steal, or waste or mistreat their
property. Be content with your
wages. And if you ask for a raise do so
in the right spirit with consideration for what they can afford to pay. Remember that because of Christ’s service to
the Father we have an inheritance reserved in heaven for us and remember we
serve the Lord Christ.
Masters, how has Christ our Master in heaven ruled us? He has given us
that which is just and equal. It was
according to what is just and equal, that Christ Jesus, who knew no sin, was
made sin that God might be just in bruising him in our place and just in saving
us by his mercy. And because Christ
satisfied justice for us, believer, it is just and equal for your Master to
give you perfect righteousness, full justification, and no condemnation. For the sake of your Master, give those who
serve you what is just and equal. They
have all the same responsibilities as you, heartaches and troubles like you. Treat them as you your Master treats you, “knowing
that ye also have a Master in heaven.”
