Our ways are ways of pleasantness when we continually acknowledge God in them.                                  Matthew Henry

Brethren, is there any of us who is satisfied with our love toward our fellow brethren?  How often have we wished we could simply start all over! Then let us not doubt our fellow brethren.  Each of us knows something of how that hurts. When we perceive others doubting and disputing about us, it never comforts us, it only injures.  How then will our doubting and disputing comfort them?  There have been times in my life when I was persuaded that others doubted me so much they even harbored a desire to see me fall.  But I confess that more hurtful to my own heart is the times when I have doubted my brethren.  Satan is some adversary!  Peter told us to not forget that these same afflictions are accomplished in each of our brethren.  Dear brothers and sisters, the one hope of this wretched, fragile, earthen vessel, for you and for me, is that we will be sustained and have our hearts united by the full sufficiency of the God of all grace.  Anyone who hopes against us will just have to hope against our one hope.  Let them have at it!  As for you and me, let us love one another in word and deed, receiving one another without doubting and disputing.  God is able to make each of his dear children stand.  Oh, may we each be made a means our merciful Master uses to that end!

The death of Christ gives us the best discovery of ourselves, in what condition we were, in that nothing could help us but that; and the most clear discovery of the dreadful nature of our sins. For if sin be so dreadful a thing as to wring the heart of the Son of God, how shall a poor wretched sinner be able to bear it?   John Bunyan

YOU ARE MY WITNESSES
Isaiah 43:10-13

A witness knows by personal, firsthand experience the facts of a matter.  Believers born of God are the LORD’s witnesses that we may know, believe and understand who Christ is.  Were it not for God’s eternal election no one would ever know Christ, believe Christ or understand that Christ is God eternal, the Lord, the only Savior (Colossians 1:12-19). Before even the first day of the creation our great I AM purposed how Christ would save his elect people.  Our Savior has spoken by all the prophets from the beginning. He has saved and showed his power and wisdom to save throughout the ages by not letting one of his everlastingly loved children be plucked from his hand.  Christ came forth exactly on time and has made atonement for every elect child of God by his accomplished redemption through his blood.  The Spirit of God came and showed us through his gospel what Christ had done for us so that we rest in him (2 Timothy 1:9-10).  Therefore, ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.

The jesus false teachers preach is merely a name used to express the sinner and his own works.  The true Lord Jesus said that when the devil speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.  (John 8:44)

“Thy paths drop fatness.”
Psalm 65:11

Many are “the paths of the Lord” which “drop fatness,” but an especial one is the path of prayer. No believer, who is much in the closet, will have need to cry, “My leanness, my leanness; woe unto me.” Starving souls live at a distance from the mercy-seat, and become like the parched fields in times of drought. Prevalence with God in wrestling prayer is sure to make the believer strong – if not happy. The nearest place to the gate of heaven is the throne of the heavenly grace. Much alone, and you will have much assurance; little alone with Jesus, your religion will be shallow, polluted with many doubts and fears, and not sparkling with the Joy of the Lord. Since the soul-enriching path of prayer is open to the very weakest saint; since no high attainments are required; since you are not bidden to come because you are an advanced saint, but freely invited if you be a saint at all; see to it, dear reader, that you are often in the way of private devotion. Be much on your knees, for so Elijah drew the rain upon famished Israel’s fields.

There is another especial path dropping with fatness to those who walk therein; it is the secret walk of communion. Oh, the delights of fellowship with Jesus! Earth hath no words which can set forth the holy calm of a soul leaning on Jesus’ bosom. Few Christians understand it; they live in the low-lands and seldom climb to the top of Nebo; they live in the outer court; they enter not the holy place; they take not up the privilege of priesthood. At a distance they see the sacrifice, but they sit not down with the priest to eat thereof, and to enjoy the fat of the burnt offering. But, reader, sit thou ever under the shadow of Jesus; come up to that palm tree, and take hold of the branches thereof; let thy beloved be unto thee as the apple-tree among the trees of the wood, and thou shalt be satisfied as with marrow and fatness. O Jesus, visit us with Thy salvation!          -          Morning by Morning-Charles H. Spurgeon
