NEVER MOVE FROM CHRIST
Galatians
1: 6: I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the
grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7: Which is not another;
The Lord Jesus Christ is the gospel. To make anything else necessary for any
aspect of salvation is a removal from Christ and grace, to no gospel at all. The Lord Jesus Christ is the one thing
needful. Those truly called believe on
Christ and continue in Christ. He is our
acceptance with God. We live by the rule
of faith in Christ, not by law. We do
good works constrained by love by the Spirit, not by our flesh. Christ calls us. He calls us to himself. We are called into the grace of Christ. Therefore, faith which worketh by love is the
believer’s rule of life. Never move from
Christ!

Judaizing preachers are those who tell
sinners that “except ye keep the law of Moses you cannot be saved.” Is it an accomplishment to talk sinners into putting
themselves under law in religion? When
Christ walked this earth naturally religious men wanted to be under law. They rejected Christ for the law. No, sinners naturally want to be under the law
that they might do something to save themselves. Only Christ can separate and calls to believe
that HE ALONE is our Righteousness so that we rest from all our vain works.

BEWARE
OF THE SERPENT!
I reside in what is called Saint Croix’s
“snake central”. This section of this island has the most snakes. They are
dangerous boas. I therefore always look for them when I walk about the
property.
I once thought I had stumbled onto a snake while shining my flashlight
into a tree one night. But the “snake” I felt under my foot was a garden hose
instead. Any snake watching me from the darkness probably had quite a laugh at
my fright.
One day I walked across the back gallery and into the yard, then
returned. There it was! On a flat space about waist high, its head about one
foot away from me. I had walked by it once and was about to walk by it again. I
was not expecting to see a snake on the gallery of the house. I quickly grabbed a nearby machete and
dispatched the boa.
I would make some spiritual applications
from this to God’s children.
Realize that this whole earth is “snake central”. It is inhabited
everywhere by “that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan” (as he is
called in Revelation 12:9 & 20:2). I do not imply that he is omnipresent.
But he certainly gets around a lot and has been spotted in every place.
Saints are therefore exhorted to “Be sober, be vigilant” because they
never know when this serpent will appear (1 Peter 5:8). He is looking for
victims. Let us therefore not let him catch us unawares. Always be on the watch
for him. And give no place to the devil (Ephesians 4:27).
Always carry God’s Word as your light when walking in this land of
spiritual darkness. It will serve to illuminate your path before you and where
to put your feet (Psalm 109:105). Many who walk in the darkness without this
light are certain that they have stumbled across the serpent Satan, when in
fact it was something quite harmless. Satan undoubtedly laughs at their fright.
Do not consider your home to be off-limits to Satan.
For this serpent has slithered unseen into many a home. He entered the house of
an apostle of Jesus (Luke 22:3) and of members of the church in Jerusalem (Acts
5:3).
If you are a child of God, do not flee when you cross
paths with the serpent Satan. He is more afraid of you than you should be of
him. For Satan knows and fears your Master. Obey the Holy Spirit when He says
“Resist the devil and he will flee from you. ... Resist him, steadfast in the
faith” (James 4:7 & 1 Peter 5:8f). And remember the words of William
Cowper when he hymned:
Satan
tremble when he sees
The weakest saint upon his knees.
And rejoice in
the knowledge that “the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly”
(Romans 16:20). Daniel

It seems to
me that this religious world, generally speaking, is looking for miracles,
while the “Miracle of miracles” is before them! Oh, “Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that
ye may see” (Isa. 42:18). “Behold your
God!” (Isa. 40:9), the Lord Jesus Christ.
He is not only the Author of all miracles but is himself the greatest of
all miracles! “Without controversy,
great is the mystery of godliness: God
was manifest in the flesh…” (I
Tim. 3:16). WHAT A MYSTERY!!! WHAT A
MIRACLE!!! WHAT A WONDER!!! Maurice Montgomery

LOVING SERVICE IS NOT CONDESCENSION
‘After that He poureth water into a basin, and began to wash
the disciples’ feet’ – John 13:5
When we think of how the Lord of Glory stooped down to wash the dirty
feet of those men, we think of His amazing condescension; how One so high could
stoop so low. But to Him it was not
condescension. All that He did was for
the glory of God and the good of those He loved. Nothing was too low for Him, or beneath Him
in service to His Father and His brethren.
His Father’s business required much dirty work and menial tasks, but all
were done by Him with desire, joy and pleasure.
And whatsoever His hand found to
do, He did it with all His might unto His God, be it ever so lowly and
humble a task. No, it was not condescension to Him but LOVE! Besides, there was
nothing unclean of itself to
Him. The feet of the disciples were as
important and needed washing same as their faces. The feet, though considered ugly by most,
were not so to Him. (Nor is there a
member of His body, the church, that is ugly and unnecessary to Him).
But Think of it; how the Lord labored in His Father’s field,
sweating and getting dirty, yet it was not dirt in the sense that we think of
it; it was not ‘dirt’ at all but beauty . . . a badge of honor. Dirt was not dirt to Him, but the soil of His
Father’s making, which He delighted to get His hands into. And His hands, though covered with dirt,
were clean and pure.
Tell me, you mothers, is it condescension
for you to wipe the dirty parts of your children? Do you consider it beneath you or do you
consider it a necessary thing and your delight?
How much more did Christ do what He did out of love to His
children. Though our Lord washing feet
is great condescension to us, it was
love to Him. And didn’t He say that the
greatest in the kingdom of Heaven is the servant? That means that the lower one stoops the
higher he is to God. It means condescension is not condescension at all,
but ascension. May this mind be in us which was in Christ Jesus our Lord.
