MIRACLES AND FORGIVENESS
Jesus ....
answering said unto them, "What reason ye in your hearts? Whether is
easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?
Luke5:22,23
If we had seen the miracles performed by Jesus and then by the Apostles in the
years after Christ's ascension, we would have been truly amazed. People are so
easily impressed with tangible, unusual, things always seeking after a
miraculous sign (Matt16:4). Think how the world would go mad for a miracle cure
for coronavirus right now.
But how much more impressive, how
much more needed, is the miracle of grace that enables God to forgive sins justly.
When we come to that unavoidable appointment that we all have with death and
judgment (Heb9:27), to be assured that our sins are forgiven, that they are
removed from the charge sheet against us because of the redemption that Christ
has accomplished for his people, that will be far more precious to us than any
physical miracle we might have witnessed in life.

THE DIFFERENCE IN LAW AND LOVE
"For brethren, you have been called unto liberty,
only USE NOT liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one
another" (Gal. 5:13).
1. Under Moses'
law circumcision was an outward sign in the flesh that a man was of the tribe
of Israel. But our Lord said, "By
this shall all men know that you are my disciples - if you love one another."
This is inward circumcision of the heart.
2. Under Moses' law a Sabbath Day was set apart for required worship, otherwise
most of these people would never have worshipped at all. Our Lord declared,
"God is Spirit and they who truly
worship God, worship Him in spirit and truth. For the Father seeketh such to
worship Him."
3. Under Moses' law a tithe was required of everyone in Israel to support the
priesthood, Levites, and the poor; otherwise we know that these people would
not have given. But the scriptures say, "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not
grudgingly or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."
4. Israel obeyed the law out of fear lest they be stoned! Believers obey God
because they love Him, they love His law, and they love one another. "By love serve one another." Pastor Henry Mahan

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore
such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be
tempted.” - Gal 6v1
What is our example in these
things? What motivates believers to restore our brethren when they are in a
fault? Christ is our example and motivation!
We were overtaken in an eternal
fault. We fell in the garden and have fallen every day since, falling into
eternal condemnation. But, Christ restored His people. He redeemed us
with His blood, regenerated us in newness of life, draws us to Him, and will
resurrect us to Himself at the last day.
What was Christ’s attitude while
he accomplished our salvation? When He
restored us? He did it in meekness! He lowered Himself from His majesty
in the heavens and became a man. He bore our shame, our guilt, and our
punishment for us.
A good leader will never ask
those under them to do anything they wouldn’t do themselves. Our Master’s yoke
is light, and His burden is easy. He completely restored us in the epitome of
meekness. How much lighter is it for us to restore our brethren in meekness and
forgiveness. Let us always forgive as we have been forgiven. Pastor Kevin Thacker

THE BEAUTIES OF HOLINESS
Exodus 29: 21: And thou shalt take of the blood that is
upon the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it
upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon the garments of
his sons with him: and he shall be hallowed, and his garments, and his sons, and
his sons’ garments with him.
Have you ever
wondered what that phrase means “the beauties of holiness” (Ps 110:3)? We see it here in type. Blood and oil were sprinkled all over the
priests and their garments. Think how stained, how spotted! Oh no! It pictured the greatest adornment there is! These are “the beauties of holiness.” These were symbols of death and life. The
blood declared their old man of sin had ceremonially died in the slain ram; the
oil declared they yet lived. By these
beauties of holiness the priests were “hallowed.” It pictured our robes washed
white in the blood of the Lamb (Rev 7:14) It is what Paul meant when he said, “I am
crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:
and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of
God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” (Gal 2:20)
