Proverbs 14: 17: He that is soon angry
dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

After service Sunday,
February 9, we will plan to baptize Matt Alcazar. We thank the Lord for calling Matt. If anyone else would like to confess faith in
the Lord Jesus Christ through baptism let me know.
?-----------------------------?
Baptism is the believer’s public confession of faith in
Christ. By our immersion (burial) in the watery grave and rising up from the
waters of baptism, we symbolically fulfill all righteousness. By this symbolic
ordinance, the heaven born soul says to all the world, “I lived in obedience to
God in Christ. I died with Christ. And I am risen with Christ. Christ is all my
righteousness.” If God has given you faith in his dear Son, you should confess
him in believer’s baptism as soon as possible.

The robe that God
provided Adam was an effectual covering, BECAUSE He provided it. The robe that
Adam provided for himself was ineffectual, because he provided it. Now Adam
clothed with God’s coat was a safer person outside the fence of paradise than
he had been inside. Why? For within, his dependence was upon himself, whereas
outside his life dependence was on another, even the promised Saviour.

SACRIFICE WITHOUT LOVE
“Though I speak with the tongues of men and
of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a
tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand
all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could
remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all
my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and
have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.” (1Co 13:1-3)
Any sinner can see our
doctrine is in the Bible. He can give
mental assent and profess to believe, even appear to have all faith. Before men he may preach or make great
sacrifices which appear to be for the cause of Christ and the furtherance of
the gospel. But if God has not created love
in his heart then everything he does is profitless because it is from an impure
motive. Any sinner can do those things. But only God can give love in the heart. Motive is the all-important matter with God. God only accepts that which is produced from the
motive of love from the heart because “…The LORD seeth not as man seeth; for
man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart” (1 Sa
16: 7).

Love Your Family in Christ
“Finally, be ye all
of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be
pitiful, be courteous: Not rendering
evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that
ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing” (1 Peter 3:8-9).
1 Peter 3:8 says, “Love
as brethren.” This would be
to love all believers, to love as Christ loved us, to love without hypocrisy,
to love, not in word only, but in both deed and truth, and to love continually;
for true love never dies!
How will this love be
expressed? In praying for one another, in forgiving one another, in sharing
with one another both temporal and spiritual blessings, and in seeking out one
another for fellowship and encouragement. Don’t wait for a brother to come to
you; go to him.

THE DECEITFULNESS OF SIN
Happiness, contentment, joy, rest
and peace surely are sweet words, and things which all men and women desire and
seek after to some degree. It is amazing
how Satan, through the deceitfulness of sin, keeps men and women pursuing
vanities and lies in their quest for these coveted qualities of life; and
thinking them to always lie just ahead…a few more years…just a little longer
now, etc.
Many young folk expect to find this
quality of life merely by growing up and becoming their own bosses. Many parents expect to find it when their
children are grown up, settled and provided for. Many businessmen expect to find it when they
can retire and travel, fish, hunt, etc.
The inordinately ambitious man expects to find it when he has gained
power and reputation. The covetous man
expects to find it by gaining enough money to satisfy his greed. The lover of pleasures expects to find it
when he has experienced his fill of earthly games and entertainments. The sickly man expects to find it when his
health improves. The student expects to
find it when he has acquired more diplomas.
The religious man expects to find it in his own righteousness. It is just ahead…just around the next
corner…I’ll be there soon…but they never make it!
The believing sinner, regardless of
vocation, social status or circumstances, has found the only source of true and
lasting contentment, rest, peace, joy and happiness. Personal faith in the Sovereign Redeemer is
the only source. Augustine said long
ago, “The soul of man will never rest till it comes to rest in Him who made
it.” Our Lord said, “Seek ye first the
kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto
you”; meaning houses, land, food, clothing, etc. (See Matthew 6:25-34). Pastor Maurice Montgomery
