“HE CARETH FOR YOU”
1 Peter 5:7
For that child of God who is laboring under some
present distress, there are no words sweeter than these—"He careth for
you!” He cares for your soul. He cares so much that he gave his only
begotten Son to redeem you from sin and supply you with every spiritual need.
Surely, if Jesus Christ died to redeem your soul from death, you must know his
great care. Not only is that so, the Lord God tenderly cares for the bodies and
the concerns of the lives of his people. Do you believe that He cares? Then
cast your care upon the Lord!
Are you troubled about your sin?
Cast it upon the Lord. Are you troubled about some personal trial? Cast it upon
the Lord. He was tempted in all points like as we are. He is touched with the
feeling of our infirmities. He is able to help them that believe. Go,
therefore, with your heavy burden to the throne of your merciful High Priest,
cast your burden there and find grace and mercy to help in your time of need.

PERFECT
HOLINESS
There is a perfection of sanctifying grace in Christ;
perfect holiness is in him; from him must we have our holiness, as well as our
righteousness, for we stand in need of an holy nature, as well as of a
justifying righteousness; and as without the one, so neither without the other
can we enter into the kingdom of heaven; for without holiness no man shall see
the Lord; {Heb 12:14?} no, not without a perfect one. From whence now must we
have perfect holiness? from ourselves we cannot expect it, but from Christ, who
has purchased and procured it for us, and has now all the holiness of his
people in his hands, and is giving it forth unto them, that they may be
perfectly meet for the eternal enjoyment of himself, who of God is made unto
them sanctification, as well as righteousness. Pastor John Gill (1697-1771)

John Bunyan wrote,
“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can
never repay you.”

It is a great encouragement to submission,
that all things work for good to them that love God; but his divine wisdom is
often seen in a point of light which to me exceeds all other considerations
whatever, and that is, when the soul is inwardly recompensed with such comfort
as more than sustains the infirmities of the body. This affords such renewings
to the inner man, that the decayings of the outward man are overlooked; and we
are brought into a strait, not knowing which to choose, ease or pain. It is
often observed that when pain goes, the comfort goes; this is a most wise way
of winning the soul to kiss the rod and hug the cross. I believe that every
crook in our path has its origin either in the blindness of our minds or in the
stubbornness of our wills. When we have light to see every cross to be needful
and beneficial, it inclines us to submit; and submission makes every crook
straight and is a cushion between the shoulder and the cross, which makes the
burden light…The cross is lined with love and will never wring the shoulder but
only when self-will, pride, consequence or self-seeking strive to bear rule.
The old man is often galled, but the new man never complains of the cross.

A BROTHER
OFFENDED
“A brother offended is harder to be won
than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a
castle” (Proverbs 18:19).
Who has not felt offended and done wrong by a brother? I would say
no one is exempt from this experience. And who has not offended a brother? “In
many things we offend all” (James 3:2)-whether intentionally or
unintentionally. It is a very painful thing to feel disrespected,
judged, slighted, and misrepresented. That person is harder to be
won back than a fortified city, and the contentions they feel toward the
offending party are like the bars of a fortress. May the Lord give
me grace to not offend and humble myself when I do. And when
offended, may I not hold a grudge and bear resentment and be hard to be
won. If men are offended by our Gospel, so be it! But to offend
a brother is a thoughtless, insensitive, arrogant, and selfish thing! And
to stay offended is equally as wrong! May we be quick to humble
ourselves and seek forgiveness when we do offend, may we be quick to forgive
from the heart when we are offended. Pastor Todd Nibert

THE PEACEABLE
FRUIT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
Heb 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to
be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit
of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
When our great Husbandman chastens his child he always
produces fruit thereby. What sweet fruit
it is! The Holy Spirit calls it “the peaceable
fruit of righteousness.” It is
peaceable fruit of righteousness because God makes his child turn from self and
cast all our care on Christ our Righteousness so that we have peace in
believing the Prince of peace. It is peaceable fruit of righteousness when God
makes his child do what is right according to God’s own word for these things
make for peace nor disturb our peace with God.
It is peaceable fruit of righteousness when God brings us to sow
righteousness in a peaceful manner toward our brethren for then we have peace
with our fellow blood-bought brethren when watered and increased by our Husbandman. Righteousness is such peaceable fruit that
when produced in a child of God we thank God for the chastening even when as
yet we are not completely out of the trial that brought it.
