“MUST
BE THINGS”
“Come up hither, and I will shew thee
things which must be hereafter.” Revelation
4:1
The
One who assured John that he would show him things that must be was the same
One John saw sitting upon a throne. He was the same One Isaiah saw hundreds of
years before this, in the year that King Uzziah died, Isaiah saw the King of
kings sitting upon his throne, high and lifted up. They each saw the Lord Jesus
Christ, that One who sitteth King forever. Before this, the Lord told John: “I
am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore,
Amen.” And after this, John saw him again, still upon his throne, saying: “Behold,
I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are
true and faithful.”
Yes, God has committed the rule of
everything in heaven and earth into the hands of his Son, the Lord Jesus
Christ. And every believer is in his hands. And very soon, we shall, like John,
hear that same voice speaking with that same power and authority, telling us
to: “Come up hither.” And so shall we ever be with the Lord. May
God keep us ever mindful that Jesus Christ is our great God and Savior. Let us
ever ascribe greatness to Him who is our God. What a miracle of grace –I’m a
child of the King! Pastor Larry Criss

LOOKING
UNTO HIM
“LOOK
UNTO ME, AND BE YE SAVED, ALL THE ENDS OF THE EARTH: FOR I AM GOD, AND THERE IS
NONE ELSE” (ISAIAH 45:22)
It is
written of all the elect of God, all those redeemed by Christ, and those
regenerated
by the Holy Spirit, it is written of every sinner who looks to Christ
alone
to be saved “They shall see His face” (REVELATION
22:4). Reader, this is heaven for the believer! This is the glory and eternal joy of the
believing sinner! Beloved, we will see
the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, face to face! He says, “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am
God, and there is none else” (ISAIAH 45:22).
Reader, it will not do you any good to
look to yourself, look away from self to Christ. Nor will it do you any good to
look to religious leaders, the church, or
doctrinal
truth, for there is no salvation to be found there; rather look away from these
things and look to Christ alone. You see, the desert Israelites were not saved
by looking to their poison infected wounds. They did not save themselves by
looking to Moses, nor the rod that he held in his hands. So how were they
saved? They were saved by beholding the serpent of brass: “…if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass,
he lived” (NUMBERS 21:9).
Our Lord declares “…as Moses lifted up the
serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That
whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” Thus
beloved, we are saved looking to Christ: “For God so loved the world, that He
gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish,
but have everlasting life” (JOHN 3:14-15,16). God help the reader and the
writer alike to ever look unto Christ for all our salvation, both now and for
ever. AMEN!
Pastor Joseph Murphy

Religion claims that salvation is according
to man’s will, man’s work, man’s worth, and man’s way. But the Word of God
claims that salvation is according to the good pleasure of God’s will.
(Ephesians 1:5)
- According to the riches of God’s grace. (Ephesians 1:7)
- According to God’s good pleasure. (Ephesians 1:9)
- According to God’s eternal purpose. (Ephesians 1:11)
- According to the riches of God’s glory. (Ephesians 1:19)
According to the Word of God, it sounds to me like, “Salvation is of the
Lord.” Pastor David Eddmenson

THE
TOWER OF BABEL
Genesis 11: 1-9
How
did we end up with so many languages? Nimrod (rebellion) and his followers attempted
to make a tower; Christ is the Tower of refuge.
They attempted to work their way to heaven (Is 14: 12-15); the Way to
God is through faith in Christ (Joh 14:6).
They tried to make them a name; God will glorify the name of his Son (Ac
4:12). Their purpose was “lest
we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth”; that is just what
God did to them. What a testament to the
depravity of our natural hearts! When we
were one people, with one language, rather than seeking God in truth, we rebelled
against God to exalt ourselves over God to make a name for ourselves. But we ended up building a monument to our
totally depravity.
It was only after fallen man proved that by
our own wisdom we can never know God that God began to call out his people by
the preaching of the gospel (1 Cor 1: 21). Shortly after, God sent Abraham the gospel and
called him (Gal 3: 8-9). Nimrod sought
to make himself a great name; God said to Abraham, “I will make of thee a great nation…and make thy name great” (Gen 12:
1-2). Nimrod sought to protect
himself from his enemies; God said to
Abraham, “I will curse him that curseth thee” (Gen 12: 3). Nimrod sought to
bring all nations of the earth under his protection; God said to Abraham, “in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed”
(Gen 12: 3). The same God who scattered
the people at Babel unites his people together in Christ by his free and
sovereign grace, “for thou wast slain,
and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and
people, and nation.” The result is that we are “fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;” (Eph 2:
19)
But if all the nations speak so many
different languages how are we brought to understand the gospel? Christ promises “then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call
upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.” (Zeph 3: 9) That
pure language is the gospel! Look to Pentecost
“there were Parthians, and Medes, and
Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in
Pontus, and Asia, 1Phrygia, and
Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of
Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians” (Acts 2: 5, 9-11). But “every
man heard them speak in his own language…the wonderful works of God” (Ac 2: 6,
11). Now, “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are
called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God
and Father of all, who is above
all, and through all, and in you all” (Eph 4:4-6; Gal 3: 28; Col 3: 11; Acts 4:
32). He is still doing that today!
